(The Center Square) – Hundreds of National Guard soldiers are activated in Illinois for the next two months to assist in protecting federal property and personnel enforcing federal immigration law. The issue is in front of a federal judge in Chicago on Thursday morning with the state seeking a temporary restraining order. President Donald Trump for weeks has said he was going to send in the military to help with public safety in Chicago. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security says federal law enforcement are seeing increased assaults against them.
